This Starrgazer is something truly special.
Crafted by luthier Reece Fourt, the body features wood reclaimed from 200+ year-old barns in the region north of the Sognefjord. While salvaging materials, Reece also discovered a hand-forged nail—estimated to be at least 120 years old—which has been inlaid into the fingerboard as a nod to the instrument’s historic roots.
The guitar is adorned with runic inscriptions of “Farr Out Starrgazer” in Elder Futhark, an ancient script once commonly used around the Bergen area. The neck and fingerboard are carved from Nordic birch, harvested from a storm-felled tree in Flekkefjord.
Its finish is a hand-rubbed, black-dyed shellac, inspired by the iconic Norwegian stave churches. This ultra-thin finish contributes to the guitar’s exceptional light weight and will wear in beautifully over time, developing a natural “relic” look while still protecting the wood.
Hardware includes relic’d nickel Gotoh components and a Lundgren Tele-90 bridge pickup. The electronics feature CTS 500k pots, a 0.022μF Sprague Orange Drop capacitor, and a Pure Tone output jack. The control cavity is fully shielded for maximum noise reduction.
